I'm from the Cook Islands, my villages are Avatiu and Amuri but I was born and breed in Dunedin. I'm blessed with a son , partner and brother. I went to Ravensbourne, Dunedin Intermediate and Logan park, my favorite subject is art, and enjoy rugby, basketball, touch and league. I guess reflecting back to school my biggest impact then was family and breaking stereo types of Polynesians, I really didn't know what I wanted to do when I left school but was able to study and Otago polytechnic, this changed my life which lead me to gaining my Bachelor in communication design.
My first job I was a Head designer which paid about $20 an hour big money back then, But the cool things is that I own my own company now and I'm living my passion as a designer my ultimate dream job. It’s okay to try something and then try something else, you’re not going to ruin your whole life by trying and finding out it’s not for you more specifically as an Islander - No one can take being Samoan from you no matter your skin tone or your accent. The Samoan parts of you don’t need to be hidden at school or in the workforce in fact they’ll be part of what makes you stand out. "
