Favourite food: Samoan food

I was born in Christchurch and grew up in Dunedin. I am of Samoan heritage from a village called Lepa, Safune. I went to Otago Girls High School and my favourite subject was typing and I disliked Maths! When I reflect on my school years and who had the biggest impact on me, it would have to be my Careers Advisor, because she told me that if I worked hard, the best job I could do was a secretary.

When I finished school, I wanted to become a social worker. I worked at Countdown and Little Sisters of the Poor Rest home for about a year.  Then I went to Otago Polytech for a year, then onto Massey University for 4 years to study social work. I completed a Bachelor of Social Work, Post Graduate Diploma Public Health.

I now work as the Chief Executive at The Cause Collective, which is a Pacific social change and primary health care organisation. What I like most about this role is supporting the people of our organisation to realise their full potential.
